Challenge 3- An Artistic Piece
An Artistic Piece
This challenge was our third and final challenge in video before the semester ends and we take finals. As our last project, this was the hardest. We were first challenged to make a chase scene, but our group made it a bit more artistic.
Brainstorming
When our teacher introduced the idea of a chase scene to us, I already had ideas running through my had. I was extremely excited about doing a chase scene. When we met with our group, I proposed an idea for the story. It detailed someone who was caught cheating on a homework assignment and had to find the person who caught them before they told a teacher. Another group member put forward an idea that we all liked. It was about a girl who was bullied until she became scared of her own "demons". The chase scene in the video was the girl running from her demons before she made piece with them. We got to work after story boarding. This time, our storyboard was much more detailed as a way of successfully communicating our passion. Filming
Filming presented us with a large obstacle, finals. Finals for e9 would start for everyone on Friday, December 8th. We were challenged with meeting that deadline because of how the previous challenge had set us behind. Because of this, I feel that our full vision could not be expressed, since we had only an hour and forty minutes to film. This may seem like a lot of time but normally we have a bit more time when filming. Due to the time restraints, we did not film certain scenes that I felt were essential to the story of the challenge. One of the biggest challenges of filming was the absence of a team member. This was the first time I had experienced this in the class. On the first official day of filming, one of our main characters was absent. We had not gotten any word beforehand about this absence. We were forced to work around his absence and because of this, we lost a lot of time and we lost a lot of time for filming. We filmed the rest when he got back the next week.
Editing
We again used Adobe Premier Pro to edit our videos, like the previous two challenges. Editing went pretty smoothly. I got done with my editing pretty early so I decided to add some extra details to the video. First of all, I asked one of my group mates about making my video black and white, because she had an idea similar to this. After that, I created a title and credits, this was the first project I had ever done this for. Just before I began exporting my video, the software crashed. This worried me because I was afraid that my finished projects was lost. We were able to recover it not long after the crash.
Concluision
In conclusion, I'm sad that we're done with video. So far, this has been my favourite class in the e9 branch. I do hope to take the next class my next year. I am really excited to do more with video and editing.
