Sidewalk Chalk

For our first project within the E-Communication program, we worked with groups to design a sidewalk square, using only chalk. We worked in groups of four, design a poster using symbols. We were not allowed to use any word in our project.  All communication was done through our design.

We were put into groups of four and given a sheet of paper that described the symbols that we could use. We spent a day brainstorming as a group and sketching out design ideas.

After our brainstorming, we were sent outside and told to pick a square in the pavement. It was that square that would later become our works of art.

Each student in the groups was able to use the chalk to express their symbols. Each groups' design was different.

In the end, our courtyard had been decorated with many different designs that showcased the newest E-com students creativity.

Each groups design was different. Many people decided to use some form of crest or shield in their design. Our group however, split our design into four parts, connected as puzzle pieces. In each piece, we had put our symbols. Mine was two different colored roses, representing grace, beauty, love and faith. Our aim in our chalk drawings was to show that all four of us are represented differently and have different interests, but work together like puzzle pieces.
