Challenge 2- AB Movements

AB Movements

For our second challenge in the video class, we focused on movement. This assignment was more complex than the last. That's because we had the aded challenge of movement to work with. Instead of an introduction into filming and the basics of equipment, this assignment was on the basics of movement.

To Start

Our group was made up of three people. We were asked to storyboard ideas for our project. This was where we met our first roadblock. We clashed on ideas about how we should make the story. In the end, we got stuck between making a horror sequence or a more tame sequence. We ended up picking the tame sequence since it would be easier to make under our time constraints. We storyboarded using Google Docs. We completely forgot to storyboard on paper but the teacher accepted our online storyboard. The link to our storyboard is below.

Filming and Setbacks

For this challenge, we did not take photos like the previous challenge. Instead, we storyboarded our shots. We were set to begin filming on Thursday, November 16th. However, as we were beginning to film, it was discovered that there was a gas leak in the school and we were forced to evacuate. The evacuation took up all of our time for filming on Thursday. We were unable to film that Friday because of the absence of the teacher and our inability to check out filming equipment without her. That left us with a big problem since videos were expected to be edited and uploaded by Thanksgiving break which started on Wednesday, November 22nd. We were able to complete our filming, however, on that Monday. Editing was then completed on that Tuesday.

Editing

Editing for challenge two was much easier than editing during challenge one. This was because i was more familiar with editing systems and how they worked. We again used Adobe Premier Pro. Unlike last time, we didn't have any problems with the lighting or audio of the video this time, which I am grateful for. The only real problem that I faced was the fact that my project and other assets I needed to complete it were saved to another persons server file. I ended up having to move all the clips and assets saved on her file to mine, which set e back slightly. Despite our class being behind, I was able to get the majority of my project done in time. The final video is below.

Closing

I think this assignment taught our class something important about being flexible. Since the gas leak occurred, we didn't have much time to film, and despite that, we were able to work around it.
