Video Challenge 1- How to Print a Document
How To Print A Document
This was my first assignment in the video branch of the E-Communication. We switched from Animation to video at the midpoint of the semester. We spent our first week learning the basics of technology in Video. We set up the tripods, learned basic camera shot and the rules of using cameras, etc. This first assignment was like our introduction to filming and learning what would be expected in class.
To Start
To start our project, we were put into groups of four. In those groups of four we were tasked with story boarding. This was the first time I had ever done something like this for a class. By storyboarding, we found out what we were doing in each shot, what shot we were using, and how the camera should move. This was also a lesson on how to work with your teammates since we may have differing visions for the project.
Taking Pictures
We were then tasked with going out and taking pictures of our shots. We weren't ready to video tape yet, we took the pictures first to make sure all of our shots would look good when translated from paper to video. Each of the photos had to match our description of the shot on our story board. After all our photos were taken, we had to put them in a google slides presentation. This presentation had to include detailed notes about each shot, explaining what will happen in them once we started filming. The link to the presentation is below.

Filming
Our actual filming started once we finished the slides presentation. Filming helped us learn more about the equipment and how to handle it when a supervisor is not present to help. We also learned to overcome challenges on our own, when there wasn't a supervisor immediately near by. We learned the basics of filming, taking shots, and working under time constraints and deadlines. Some challenges we had to face was finding a quiet place to work. There were others in the hall who were being loud and obnoxious. This, I feel, gave us a lesson in how to deal with others outside of our project who may have interfered.
Editing
Lastly, we had to learn to edit our final videos. To do this, we used Adobe Premier Pro. This gave us more experience with new software that we would have to use for this class. We learned things like, editing music and audio, make our shots flow well, and exporting. I feel like I was somewhat prepared for using the new technology since I have worked with different editing softwares like this before. Some challenges our team faced was unexpected changes in lighting that weren't noticed until editing and broken audio.
Closing
In conclusion, this assignment was more of a tutorial assignment to help us prepare for our other assignments for the last half of the semester.
