OZ Poster, CARP

OZ Poster

This is the second post I'm doing in a series of posts on CARP. CARP is an acronym for the four most important parts of graphic design, contrast, alignment, repetition, and proximity. For our fifth project in graphic design, we were tasked with using CARP to recreate a poster for the Wizard of OZ musical.

Contrast

I tried to use a contrast of colours in the poster. In the poster, the main colours are already green and yellow. I experimented with using different colours to use contrast. Green and yellow complement eachother but also contrast.

Alignment

Whenever I had any big groups of words, I tried to make sure they were aligned, for example, information about the plays origins and backgrounds. I feel like I didn't use as much alignment as I should have though.

Repetition

I don't think I really used to much repetition, this is the hardest part of CARP for me to use because I'm not very good at knowing where to put repetition

Proximity

I tried to use the perfect blend of both spacing and proximity in my poster. I wanted to group together certain parts of my poster whose information was similar. I tried to put the silhouetted outline near the title, prices, and background information together.
