Tim Berners-Lee is by far one of the most influential people of the 20th and 21st century. He is an English engineer and computer scientist but he is best known for being the inventor of World Wide Web. He grew up around technology, his parents worked on the first commercially built computer. After graduating, he worked as an engineer for Plessey. While in Geneva he proposed the creation of project that would use the concept of hypertext. To demonstrate his ideas he created a prototype names ENQUIRE.
In 1989, CERN was one of the biggest internet companies. He used this to his advantage finally do his hypertext idea. Despite being credited with creating the World Wide Web, he didn't necessarily create the assets, just put them together. He wrote a proposal in 1989 and later distributed it in 1990 where it was found by manager, Mike Sendall. He used ideas similar to the ones he used with ENQUIRE to create the world first Web Browser.
