Self Portrait a.k.a Exposing My Cat: First Project in Video
Self Portrait: My First Video Project
The Video and the Background
For our first project in video we were required to go home over the weekend and take a two minute video portfolio the described who we are. That weekend I ended up working a total of 22 hours and had no free time to really orchestrate a good video. I knew I wanted to do something with my cat but not exactly what. I ended up trying to make a video of my playing with and petting my cat but he had other plans. While I was petting him he rolled over and started to bite me, the video became about him not wanting me to pet him.Since I filmed earlier in the morning it was dark. I only turned on one light since it was so early. I really didn't mean for the lighting to be so bad. However, when I did get feedback after showing my work I was told that the lighting somewhat fit the aesthetic of my story. Many other things about the video ended up also being unintentional. Like my cats reaction to being pet. But one thing I did try to do was the sound design. I tried my best to be quiet while filming so that the camera would pick up all sounds that my cat made.
